 Waterproofing has many definitions and covers a large territory in the construction industry. The term waterproofing, in most cases, is related to the installation of water barrier products during the construction of a new structure. Even though Stone Restoration installs waterproof components on new structures, the thrust of our business is waterproofing issues on existing structures.
Our expertise is determining the cause of water intrusion in a structure and finding the means to perform a permanent repair. The structure can be a building, a parking deck, or facility under a building plaza. We are not a roofing contractor. A roofing contractor strictly keeps water from entering through the roof of a building. We prevent and stop water intrusion that is not coming from the roof. It may be the parapet or the windows or through the masonry.
Retrofit flashing is an area of our expertise. In most cases this repair requires that the building be partially disassembled. Normally we perform this function with the building open and operational. The demolition work is completed off hours and the quieter assembly work during working hours. In many cases the waterproofing is coupled with masonry or concrete restoration.
Stone Restoration installs and replaces all types of sealants: Urethane, silicone, polysulfide, preformed silicone joints, expansion joints and compressed foam sealants. Flexible sealants, or caulking, must be replaced after a certain time interval depending on the product and conditions. We have personnel who are experts in removing and replacing caulk efficiently.
